A first-of-its-kind incarnation, Silk Road Cabaret: Broadway Sings the Silk Road features songs from popular Broadway musicals set in Silk Road countries that are re-interpreted in ways perhaps never imagined by the non-Silk Road composers and lyricists who created them. This bold and harmonious East-West interplay blends music with personal anecdotes and showcases performers of Asian, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean backgrounds as they claim, reclaim, subvert, and have fun with much beloved show tunes from the Broadway repertoire. Promises to bring out the dilettante in us all! |
