The DNA Trail

A Genealogy of Short Plays about Ancestry, Identity, and Utter Confusion

Theatre meets science when a diverse group of playwrights each agree to take a genealogical DNA test and revisit their assumptions about identity politics and the perennial “who am I” question. Self, family, community, and ethnicity are all for grabs in this perception-defying collection of short plays.

Featuring Plays by Philip Kan Gotanda, Velina Hasu Houston, David Henry Hwang, Jamil Khoury, Shishir Kurup, Lina Patel, and Elizabeth Wong

 March 2 – April 4, 2010

  • Silk Road Theatre Project wishes to thank everyone who came out to see Silk Road Cabaret: Broadway Sings the Silk Road . Several audience members sent us emails conveying their thoughts…here is one from Rosalind Morris:

“Oh my goodness, the show was amazing. When I first read the title, I thought that I would not attend, it being a cabaret. However, the next thought was--wait, this is Silk Road ; you should go, it will be different from what you think. And I am so glad I did. As always--the performances were amazing, telling, touching.”
